Coco Gauff got out of the heat quickly.
The 19-year-old American made fast work of Jelena Ostapenko in the quarterfinals of the U.S. Open, rolling to a 6-0, 6-2 win on Tuesday afternoon.
The victory put Gauff into the semifinals of a grand slam for the first time in her young career.
Ostapenko, who was coming off an upset of No. 1 Iga Swiatek, did her part in helping Gauff advance with 36 unforced errors.
The temperature was in the low 90s with the humidity making it even more difficult for the players.
Gauff will play the winner of the Sorana Cirstea and Karolina Muchova match, which gets underway Tuesday evening.
