A homebuyer has issued a chilling warning to anyone purchasing a new property after her “dream” house “ruined her life” when it was revealed it had black mold that was making her entire family seriously sick for months on end.

TikTok user Brittney Necole shared a series of videos on the app in which she detailed her “nightmare” experience with the mold, claiming that she was “gaslit” and “lied to” by her builders who insisted there was nothing wrong with the newly built property.

“Please watch if you have purchased a new build… This has become my nightmare,” she captioned her first viral clip, in which she laid bare the horrifying symptoms she says she and her children suffered as a result of the mold.

“About a year ago, a year and a half ago, I bought a brand-new house. It’s like a dream home for me, and little did I know how it would ruin my life,” she explained in the video. “This is not normally how I look or sound. I have been poisoned by my house.”

She said her entire family grew sick from hidden mold, and that she has fatigue and inflammation due to breathing it in.

She also listed ailments like a new sensitivity to cleaners, extreme thirst, a leaky gut, and an inability to break a sweat.

However, because Necole tied herself into a mortgage with “almost a 9% interest rate,” she said she is “stuck” in the home, even though it has made her family so sick.

“My house has mold in it,” she said. “I’m so sick here. And I’m stuck in this house. I have almost a 9% mortgage rate and $3,000 of my mortgage goes to interest every month.”

Necole then pointed the finger at the builders responsible for the construction of the property, alleging that they installed the wrong size air-conditioning unit and used lumber that was already moldy.

“They forgot to put the vapor wrap or the barrier wrap in it,” she claimed. “My AC was installed wrong—it’s an oversized unit with exposed holes everywhere. My whole house was built with moldy lumber.

“My throat hurts every day, I have the most insane symptoms from the mold exposure,” she said, adding that she’s sleeping on the couch because she can’t breathe in her own room.

“I find myself getting off the couch to go outside to get fresh air because I can’t breathe the air in here anymore. I get to a point where I can’t handle it.”

Necole further alleged that the builders tried to “cover up” their faulty build—and advised others against rushing into the purchase of a new home because the materials can be cheap.

“It’s actually really common with a lot of these new builds. They just throw them up so quick, and they do such a crappy job installing the AC,” she said.

“My story is so crazy—everything I’ve experienced with this new build. But if I could share something with you, it’s that [you should] watch the process of your new build and check your AC with your AC guy, not theirs.”

In another video, Necole shared images and videos of her children going to the doctor on several different occasions, while detailing the symptoms that they have all suffered as a result of the mold, including “extreme fatigue, neurological dysfunction, chronic strep, mood swings, rashes, swollen throats, chronic allergies, and memory loss.”

She added in a third clip that she got “sick as hell” two months after moving into her home, noting that after being “gaslit and lied to” by her builder, she decided to hire her own inspector to figure out what was going on inside her home.

After that inspector found evidence of mold, Necole and her family “moved everything out” of their home and “got rid of a lot” in a bid to rid the property of the mold once and for all.

She and her family then moved into a short-term rental while the home was “remediated” and “fixed” in order to make it livable.

“My body said ‘nope’ and the kids always seemed to be sick,” she continued, while sharing more images of her children at the doctor—and photos of her own body covered in a painful-looking rash.

It was at this point that the inspector discovered an issue with the AC installation, which caused “extremely high humidity” in her home, explaining that it had to be removed and redone.

Having first started documenting her mold struggles in August, Necole said she and her family are still struggling with their symptoms—and are still finding evidence of mold in their home.

She shared in a recent video that her daughter has just been diagnosed with strep yet again.

She also recently discovered that her washing machine was filled with mold, despite using the “self-clean” function at least “once a month.”

Her followers detailed similar stories with one writing, “I am 100 percent sure I have this. I had mold in my car and bedroom, never knew this was a big thing. I’ve had horrible symptoms for 3 years, thought I had autoimmune but everything comes back normal.”

Another advised getting an attorney to sue the builder.
