Going to this school really stank.
A South Carolina high school staffer has been busted for repeatedly using fart spray — accused of hurting students’ health and causing a staggering $55,000 in damage.
Florence High School teaching assistant Alexander Lewis, 32, was arrested for using what cops called “an internet-acquired spray designed to imitate fecal odor.”
He bought it online and used it multiple times between Aug. 25 and Sept. 19, according to the Florence County Sheriff’s Office.
After students raised their own stink about it, the school inspected gas and propane lines and tested for air quality problems to no avail.
But an inspection of the school’s air conditioning system found damage that cost the district more than $55,000, according to officials, who did not detail exactly how it was damaged.
As well as damaging the AC, the prank left some students needing medical attention.
“My son has, his asthma has been triggered multiple times because of this and I had to take him to the doctor three times,” one parent told WKRC, while asking not to be identified.
Lewis was arrested on Friday last week and charged with disturbing schools as a non-student and malicious injury to property over $10,000.
He was booked into Florence County Corrections Facility on a $9,000 bond before being released on Saturday afternoon.
He is scheduled to appear in Florence Magistrates Court for his school disruption charge on Oct. 15, followed by a Nov. 19 hearing in general sessions court for the malicious injury charge.
